Monotype

You are not dead Mahsa, your name has become a symbol.

On 16 September 2022, 22-year-old Iranian woman Mahsa Amini, also known as Jina Amini, died in a hospital in Tehran , Iran, under suspicious circumstances. She remains a symbol of resistance in Iran after her tragic death.

“Try Again. Fail Again. Fail Better”
Samuel Beckett

I played with the basic elements of picture-making and transformed the process of making matrix and final prints to an idiosyncratic approach which was governed by rules of my own devising, and I named it Datagraphy.
in this series of work I played with the idea of making three dimensional Matrix.
The result was born from playfulness and a scientific and didactive approach towards the process of making art.

As Edward Casey, the American philosopher conveniently explains, ‘recollection’ has two original meanings: from the Latin, “collecta”, a ‘gathering together’; and from “colligere”, which relates to the English verb ‘to colligate’, ‘to bind together’ in this sense the process of making this series of works and thematic idea behind them are the same.

Who we really are? Is it our decisions and priorities that makes us who we are; or the society is the one who dictates its wills and values upon us, and persuades us to follow what makes us more acceptable? and if this is the case, how our identity is shaping regarding the surrounding environment and what we get from the others? So, where is the role of our inside point of view, the inner personal perspective?

“So I wish you first a sense of theater;
only those who love illusion and know it will go far;
otherwise we spend our lives in confusion
of what we say and do with who we really are."

How a single concept is interpreted by two different artists with different backgrounds. How an idea is shaped by them in their art works? How would the process of art making be different if two artists decide to work closely to make arts together?
